BTS`s V hints at a major project, fueling speculation about a role in Netflix`s `Squid Game` season 3.

Seoul: BTS member Kim Taehyung, better known as V, has sent fans into a frenzy with a cryptic message shared during a surprise WeVerse live broadcast, fuelling renewed speculation that he may appear in the third and final season of Netflix’s global hit, ‘Squid Game.’
Fresh out of military service, the beloved K-pop idol made an unexpected online appearance, where he offered a vague teaser that instantly set the BTS ARMY abuzz.
“This is probably… Maybe if we wait a little longer, I think it’ll come out. But it’s not really a big deal. Oh, but to me, it’s actually a huge deal," V said during the livestream, just enough to spark widespread theories online.
Fan theories point to 'Squid Game 3'
Among the various interpretations circulating online, the most popular theory is that V is set to make his acting return through ‘Squid Game Season 3,’ which premieres globally on Netflix this Friday, June 27, 2025.
While the BTS star has not confirmed anything directly, fans have drawn connections from past appearances and interviews. At BTS’ ‘Permission to Dance on Stage’ concert, V appeared dressed in the iconic red guard uniform and black mask associated with the ‘Squid Game’ series. The moment, now considered by many as a planted clue, continues to feed speculation that a collaboration was in the works all along.
Adding fuel to the rumours were evasive responses from ‘Squid Game’ actors Lee Jung-jae and Wi Ha-joon. When asked earlier this year by BuzzFeed UK whether V would feature in the series, Jung-jae replied, “I can’t say anything about that,” while Ha-joon offered a simple, “No comment.” Both responses only deepened curiosity.
A potential K-drama crossover moment
If true, V’s appearance in ‘Squid Game’ would mark a significant moment in the crossover between K-pop and Korean drama on a global scale. The series creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, has already hinted that the upcoming season won’t conclude on a cheerful note, preparing fans for an intense and emotional finale.
V, who last acted in the 2016 historical K-drama ‘Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth,’ starred alongside Park Seo-joon, Park Hyung-sik, SHINee’s Minho and others. ‘Squid Game 3 ‘would be his first return to acting in nearly a decade — and possibly the most high-profile role of his career.
