BTS star Jungkook's detailed description of his 'ideal type' has gone viral, with fans initially assuming he was talking about a romantic partner.

BTS star Jungkook has once again sent fans into a frenzy after a clip from one of his recent livestreams began circulating online. In the viral video, the singer appears to describe the kind of person he would like to have around him, offering an unusually specific list that includes personality traits, interests, lifestyle choices and even age.
Naturally, fans initially assumed Jungkook was talking about his ideal romantic partner. But the context behind his comments turned out to be quite different. The BTS member was reportedly describing the qualities he wants in someone who could join his future video production crew, giving fans an unexpected glimpse into his creative plans beyond music.
Jungkook's 'ideal type' isn't quite what fans thought
During the livestream, Jungkook began by saying, "I have a certain type of person I’m looking for." He went on to describe someone close to his own age who enjoys drinking, is more talkative than him and brings plenty of energy and enthusiasm to conversations.
"I want someone who’s around my age, enjoys having a drink, and is a bit more talkative than I am. They should be chatty and have a little more passion and enthusiasm than me. They should also be interested in things like their appearance and fashion, and they should enjoy working out. That’s basically it."
The detailed description quickly caught the attention of fans, who initially interpreted the remarks as Jungkook revealing his romantic preferences. However, reports suggested that he was actually referring to the kind of person he would like to work with on visual projects.
His comments about fashion, appearance and fitness also appear to fit with the type of lifestyle and interests that could translate into video content. Jungkook has previously spoken about his creative ambitions, and during the broadcast he revealed that he intends to put together a film crew.
His 'medicine bag' also gets fans talking
The same livestream generated another wave of discussion when Jungkook showed fans a ziplock bag containing what he described as his vitamins and medicines.
"This is my medicine bag. So it’s my vitamin bag. There’s a lot… (laughs)…these are my morning vitamins…I have a lot."
Fans subsequently identified various packs in the bag as items including vitamins, cold and throat medicine, allergy medication, sleeping pills, zinc and magnesium. The sight prompted some fans to express concern about the singer and his well-being, particularly as BTS continues its demanding concert schedule.
An emotional birthday celebration with BTS
Jungkook's viral comments came during an especially memorable period for the singer, whose 29th birthday was marked by celebrations with both BTS members and ARMY.
The youngest BTS member shared an emotional moment during a Weverse live, using the occasion to speak about his parents and the difficulty he sometimes has expressing his feelings directly. He thanked them for bringing him into the world and credited their love with helping him lead a happy life.
“Thank you for bringing me into this world.”
“Thanks to you, I’m able to live such a happy life,”
Jungkook also acknowledged that expressing such emotions directly can make him feel shy.
“It’s a little embarrassing for me to say this directly over the phone or through a message because I’m quite shy and I’m not very good at expressing myself,”
He then told his parents, “I love you,” while making it clear how deeply he cherishes them and their family. He also suggested that they take family photographs together and go on a trip.
The singer also expressed gratitude towards ARMY for making his birthday special.
“Thanks to you, I’ve been spending such happy days.”
Before ending the livestream, Jungkook said he would take some rest before returning to work for the following day's concert. He wished fans a peaceful night and a good morning before teasing another appearance.
“I’ll come back with a lot more romance and sentimentality.”
He signed off with a message for his fans: “I love you, ARMYs! Thank you, everyone!”
V and J-Hope join Jungkook's birthday celebrations
The celebrations also included two of Jungkook's BTS bandmates, V, whose real name is Kim Taehyung, and J-Hope.
J-Hope shared a video on his Instagram Stories showing the three members together as Jungkook celebrated with a birthday cake. V and J-Hope could be seen singing 'Happy Birthday' to him, creating a candid moment that quickly became another highlight for fans.
Jin also sent his birthday wishes, keeping his message short and casual: "yo jaykay happy birthday bro."
Jungkook's birthday coincides with BTS' Los Angeles concerts
Jungkook's birthday also coincided with BTS' return to Los Angeles for the group's highly anticipated 'BTS WORLD TOUR ARIRANG'.
BTS is scheduled to perform four shows at SoFi Stadium on September 1, 2, 5 and 6. For fans unable to attend in person, all four concerts are being made available through real-time livestreaming on Weverse. For viewers in India, the shows are scheduled to stream at 8:30 am IST on September 2, 3, 6 and 7 respectively. The livestream tickets do not include VOD access.
The September 1 concert holds particular significance as it falls on Jungkook's birthday, although no official birthday surprise was announced.
Los Angeles declares 'BTS Week'
The excitement surrounding BTS has extended beyond the concert venue, with Los Angeles officially declaring September 1 through 8 as 'BTS Week'.
The proclamation was announced by BIGHIT MUSIC, with an official ceremony taking place at Los Angeles City Hall. Members of the Los Angeles City Council, representatives from the city's tourism agency and senior BIGHIT MUSIC officials attended the event.
As part of the celebrations, Los Angeles City Hall was illuminated in red, a colour associated with BTS' fifth studio album, 'ARIRANG'. The gesture was presented as a welcome to BTS and the fans travelling to the city from around the world.
The group is returning to SoFi Stadium nearly five years after its 'Permission to Dance On Stage' concerts there in December 2021. All four current shows sold out, underlining BTS' continuing commercial strength in the US.
The Los Angeles City Council, in its official resolution, praised BTS' influence on the current generation and highlighted the group's role in helping Asian artists reach audiences worldwide.
Los Angeles is not the only North American destination to embrace the BTS phenomenon. Other locations visited by the 'ARIRANG' tour, including El Paso County in Texas, Illinois and Toronto in Canada, have also marked the group's arrival with their own 'BTS Week' or 'BTS Day' celebrations.
