From stellar performances in Master to Thangalaan, actress Malavika Mohanan has always enthralled audiences with her mesmerising performances on screen.

The actor is also known for her bold opinions and honest takes on both her professional and personal life.

Now, in a recent interview with Galatta Plus, the actor revealed that she was originally supposed to be part of the hit movie Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, starring Prabhas and Prithviraj in lead roles and directed by Prashanth Neel. The film is regarded as an expanded adaptation of Neel’s debut movie Ugramm, starring Sri Murali.

"I was contacted by Prashanth Neel’s team shortly after completing Master," said Malavika.

Excited by the opportunity, she even met the director to discuss the project. However, due to certain reasons, she was unable to take up the role.

"I have been a huge fan of Baahubali ever since I watched it, and I always wanted to work with Prabhas. When I got the call from Prashanth Neel’s team, I was thrilled. It would have been a great opportunity to make my Telugu debut alongside Prabhas. But for some reason, things didn’t work out, and I couldn’t be a part of Salaar," she said.

She went on to say that she had even met Prabhas, a person she holds in high regard, as part of the discussions, but unfortunately, things did not materialise.

However, destiny offered another opportunity to act alongside her dream hero. Malavika will soon be seen sharing screen space with Prabhas in the upcoming movie The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi. She has high hopes for the movie, in which she says her character is well-etched and has a lot to do.

While Malavika did not elaborate on the exact reasons behind her absence from Salaar, her revelation has sparked curiosity among fans about what could have transpired. The character was eventually played by Shruti Haasan, who earned applause for her performance.
