Actor Padmapriya has shared her thoughts on her involvement in the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), acknowledging that while her participation has not deprived her of opportunities, it has led to a shift in how she is perceived by those within the industry.

She mentioned, "There are people who say that the Hema Committee report was totally prepared by the WCC members, but that is not entirely true. Before the committee, as many as 60 people had given statements. Among the active members of the WCC, there are about 15. So, why the need for such a campaign now?"

Padmapriya further noted that during the time of WCC's formation, there were attempts to use women against other women. "The organisation was founded to act as a protector, and it will continue to serve that purpose," she explained. However, she expressed hope that a time would come when such an organisation would no longer be necessary, as the issues facing women in the film industry would be resolved. "A time will come when the WCC itself will no longer be needed, and there will be no need for an organisation to raise a voice for women in cinema," she said optimistically.

Her reflections suggest a desire for progress within the industry, where the struggles women face may eventually fade, leaving space for more equal and respectful representation.
