Congratulatory messages poured in from all quarters following Vijay’s stunning performance in the Tamil Nadu polls, as his party, TVK, surged ahead of the rest, poised to claim victory in the state. Among the many messages, a striking one came from young actor Tiger Shroff.

“Congratulations to @actorvijay The faith people have in you is amazing to see. More power to you for this next chapter!,” said Tiger Shroff.

Actor-politician Vijay appears to be on the verge of creating a new history in Tamil Nadu’s electoral politics—one with no parallels. As of the time of reporting, with the counting of votes from the April 23 elections underway across the state, TVK is leading in 109 out of the 234 Assembly segments. If Vijay’s party crosses the majority mark of 118 seats, it will be an unprecedented milestone; no party in Tamil Nadu has ever managed to assume power just two years after its founding. At the last data update, TVK led in 109 seats, while the AIADMK and DMK were ahead in 63 and 40 seats, respectively.

Though AIADMK founder MG Ramachandran became CM in 1977 --after starting his party in 1972-- he had cut his teeth in the DMK for about two decades prior to becoming the chief minister.

If TVK crosses the majority mark, its performance will truly be without parallel. From the start of the counting process, which commenced with postal ballots, Vijay's party posted gains. As EVM counting took over, those gains solidified. At one point, it appeared that TVK might simply replace the AIADMK as the main opposition while the DMK retained power.

However, as the counting picked up pace, TVK moved ahead round after round across all regions, including the Western "Kongu" belt where the AIADMK-BJP alliance typically maintains a strong presence. If these trends hold, Vijay will have secured the biggest electoral upset in the state’s history—echoing the landmark "1967 and 1977" wins he frequently referenced during his campaign speeches.
