Diljit Dosanjh lit up the International Emmy Awards 2025 red carpet in New York with a refined sequin look that blended glamour, elegance and his signature Punjabi style.

Diljit Dosanjh turned heads at the 53rd International Emmy Awards in New York, arriving on the red carpet with an effortless mix of poise, confidence and unmistakable personal style. India may not have secured a win this year, but the singer-actor ensured the country was well represented with a standout fashion moment.
Dosanjh attended the ceremony after his Netflix film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ earned two major nominations – Best Actor for his performance and Best TV Movie/Mini-Series. Stepping onto the carpet, he carried himself like an artist fully aware of the impact of his latest work.
The actor-singer opted for a refined, luminous ensemble that paired understated glamour with clean tailoring. His champagne-beige sequin blazer was the centrepiece of the look, catching the light without overwhelming it. The sequins were densely set, creating a sleek, smooth finish rather than a bold glitter effect. The jacket featured sharp shoulders and glossy lapels that complemented its soft, glowing tone.
He wore an ivory shirt beneath the blazer, chosen for its crisp structure and compatibility with the jacket’s muted palette. A black velvet bow tie provided a textured contrast, adding classic red-carpet formality while keeping the overall feel relaxed and balanced.
Dosanjh kept the lower half of the outfit intentionally minimal, wearing straight-cut black trousers with a tailored fit and no sheen. Completing the look was his signature black turban – immaculately tied and adding the final touch of composure – along with a well-groomed beard.
‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ loses out in both categories
Despite the stunning appearance, the night was bittersweet for the team behind ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’. The film failed to secure any awards at the gala. Diljit Dosanjh, nominated for Best Performance by an Actor, lost the honour to Oriol Pla for ‘I, Addict’. The film itself was edged out by ‘Lost Boys & Fairies’ in the TV Movie/Mini-Series category.
Dosanjh competed alongside David Mitchell (Ludwig), Oriol Pla (I, Addict), and Diego Vasquez (One Hundred Years of Solitude). In its own category, ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ faced competition from ‘Herrhausen: The Banker and the Bomb’, ‘Lost Boys & Fairies’, and ‘Victory or Death’.
During a panel at the International Emmy World Television Festival, director Imtiaz Ali reflected on the heart of the film, emphasising its artistic spirit. “For me, this was a love story between an artiste and their craft. A singer and their performance are akin to lovers, and at a certain point, you don’t pursue it for financial gain, fame, or glamour; you do it for the sake of the performance itself, transcending any rationale, to connect with their audience, and that was the most compelling drive in ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’s character, which I concentrated on,” he said.
