Onam dressing does not always have to mean a plain Kerala saree and a predictable gold blouse. Bhavana has made a case for taking the traditional route while adding a little more colour to it.

The actor shared pictures from her Thiruvonam celebrations on social media, along with wishes for her followers. For the occasion, she chose a multicoloured kasavu dhavani that felt festive without looking too heavy.

Bhavana gives the classic kasavu look a colourful update

The outfit kept the familiar kasavu detailing but moved away from the usual all-white-and-gold combination. Bhavana's dhavani featured a colourful border, while the blouse came with delicate golden handwork.

The mix worked particularly well because the outfit stayed traditional at its core, but the pops of colour gave it a fresher feel. It is also the sort of look that can easily work for an Onam lunch, a family celebration or an evening gathering.

Bhavana kept the rest of the styling fairly simple. She wore layered gold jewellery with multicoloured glass bangles, allowing the outfit to remain the main focus.

Jasmine flowers, minimal make-up and a festive hair accessory

The actor went for minimal make-up and finished the look with jasmine flowers in her hair. She also added a traditional hair accessory, giving the outfit another festive touch.

Celebrity stylist Sabari Nath put the look together, while jewellery and beauty details kept the overall styling rooted in the Kerala festive aesthetic.

“As we celebrate the beautiful spirit of Thiruvonam tomorrow, I just want to wish my Insta family a very Happy, Prosperous & Colourful Onam!”, she wrote.

The response from fans was quick. Several followers filled the comments with compliments, while actors including Samyuktha Varma, Shruthi Menon, Malavika Menon and Manya also praised her Onam look.

Some fans joked that Bhavana had already won this year's Onam fashion game, while others compared her appearance to her much-loved character from ‘Deepavali’.
