Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ continues to shatter records at the box office, racking up massive earnings after its first two days in theatres. Following a record-breaking opening day that saw it earn ₹100 crore in India, the Ranveer Singh-led spy thriller maintained its momentum on Friday, pushing its domestic tally past ₹200 crore and accumulating ₹350 crore worldwide.

Released worldwide on Thursday, 19 March, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ had already created history with paid previews on Wednesday, marking the largest preview rollout in Indian cinema. The film earned ₹145 crore net on its opening day, with Friday adding another ₹81 crore net, taking the two-day domestic net collection to ₹226 crore (₹269 crore gross). The film now holds the record for the two highest single-day collections by a Hindi film in India, surpassing ‘Jawan’s first Sunday. Trade analysts predict the spy thriller could cross ₹100 crore net on both Saturday and Sunday, potentially bringing its extended opening weekend total close to ₹450–500 crore net domestically.

Overseas performance

The film also made a strong impact internationally. Despite the absence of local holidays that boosted its domestic release, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ earned nearly $7 million globally from previews and Thursday’s opening day. On Friday, it added $5 million more, bringing the worldwide gross to ₹370 crore in just two days. Industry insiders estimate the film could surpass ₹500 crore globally by Saturday, putting it on track to become the highest-grossing Indian film of the year and surpass ‘Border 2’s record.

Cast, plot and expectations

The first installment of the franchise earned ₹1,300 crore worldwide and continues to play in theatres months after its December release. With the sequel’s unprecedented opening and record-breaking collections, trade analysts are forecasting even bigger figures for ‘Dhurandhar 2’, especially as it heads into the lucrative Eid weekend.

Comparisons and record-breaking run

In just two days, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has already outperformed the lifetime grosses of several recent pan-India films, including ‘Adipurush’ (₹350 crore) and ‘War 2’ (₹338 crore). By the end of its opening weekend, it is on track to become one of the top five highest-grossing opening weekends in Bollywood history, potentially topping the list.
