Los Angeles: Get ready to slip back into the chic, cutthroat world of high fashion! A sequel to the beloved comedy-drama film 'The Devil Wears Prada' is officially in the works.

Aline Brosh McKenna, the writer behind the original screenplay, is set to pen the follow-up, with Wendy Finerman, the producer of the 2006 hit, on board once again. Although no deals have been finalized, the buzz around this potential project is already reaching fever pitch.

Fans of the original film, which became a cultural touchstone for fashion lovers and film buffs alike, have been dreaming of a sequel for years.

The 2006 movie, adapted from Lauren Weisberger's bestselling novel, introduced us to the fresh-faced Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway), who lands a dream job at Runway magazine, only to find herself at the mercy of the imperious Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). With Emily Blunt's unforgettable turn as Andy's assistant Emily, the film grossed a staggering $326 million worldwide and earned Streep an Oscar nomination.

Recently, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Anne Hathaway reunited on stage at this year’s SAG Awards, sparking a flurry of speculation among fans. Disney, now the owner of the original 'Devil Wears Prada' studio Fox 2000, has yet to comment.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel promises to dive into the evolving landscape of the fashion industry. Miranda Priestly is still at the helm of Runway, but the magazine is grappling with the financial realities of the digital age. Meanwhile, Emily Blunt's character has climbed the corporate ladder to become an executive at a luxury brand conglomerate that partners with Runway.

Interestingly, Anne Hathaway recently expressed skepticism about a sequel while promoting her new film 'The Idea of You.' “I don’t think a continuation of that story is probably ever gonna happen,” she said.
