This move comes amid growing concerns over the unauthorised use of celebrity images and AI-generated content, highlighting the importance of legal safeguards for public figures.

New Delhi: Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan approached the Delhi High Court on Tuesday, seeking to restrain various entities from using her image, likeness, and persona, alleging infringement of her personality rights.
During the hearing, the court orally indicated that it is likely to pass an ad-interim order injuncting the defendant entities from further misuse.
Senior advocate Sandeep Sethi, representing Rai Bachchan, submitted before Justice Tejas Karia that his client was seeking enforcement of her publicity and personality rights, emphasising the protection of her identity and reputation.
"There can be no right in their favour to use her images, likeness or persona. A gentleman is collecting money merely by putting my name and face," Sethi argued.
"Her name and likeness is being used to satisfy someone's sexual desires. This is very unfortunate," he said.
Rai was also represented through advocates Pravin Anand and Dhruv Anand.
The high court listed the matter for further proceedings before the joint registrar on November 7 and before the court on January 15, 2026.
