Hrithik Roshan in 'Super 30'

Hrithik Roshan played mathematician Anand Kumar in the 2019 film Super 30, based on the teacher known for coaching underprivileged students for the IIT entrance examinations.

Directed by Vikas Bahl, the film follows the struggles and sacrifices involved in helping students pursue their academic ambitions. It also contrasts the commercial world of private coaching centres with a mentor's commitment to the success of his students.

Aamir Khan in 'Taare Zameen Par'

For many Bollywood audiences, Aamir Khan's Ram Shankar Nikumbh in Taare Zameen Par remains one of cinema's most memorable portrayals of a teacher.

His rigid approach is challenged by Aamir Khan's character, leading to a clash between two very different ideas of education. The film eventually explores the evolving relationship between a demanding teacher and a student who refuses to fit into a conventional system.

Why is Teachers' Day celebrated in India?

Teachers' Day in India commemorates the birth anniversary of scholar and Bharat Ratna recipient Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was born on September 5, 1888.

Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan served as the first Vice President of independent India from 1952 to 1962. He later became the country's second President and held office from 1962 to 1967.
