Hyderabad: Utsav Dixit, a stand-up comedian and businessman, was arrested Sunday in connection with a crash involving a Porsche at KBR Park in Hyderabad, according to city police.
The 33-year-old Banjara Hills resident allegedly crashed the luxury car into the fence surrounding KBR Park in the early hours of Friday, causing extensive damage to the boundary wall, grills, and pavement. Police reported that Dixit fled the scene after the accident.
Assistant Commissioner of Police S. Venkat Reddy said that initial findings indicate the crash occurred due to reckless driving, causing Dixit to lose control of the vehicle. The incident came to light around 5:45 a.m. when a citizen’s call to the Dial 100 helpline prompted a police response.
Upon arrival, patrolling officers discovered a red Porsche with a damaged front and missing number plate. Further investigation led officers to find a broken plate inside the car bearing registration number TS10FH0900.
Following the crash, a suo-moto case was registered based on the patrolling officers’ report. Dixit was traced and subsequently arrested after police verified available evidence. He has since been subjected to alcohol and drug testing, with results pending, according to legal procedures.
Authorities seized Dixit’s driver’s license and sent it to the Road Transport Officer (RTO) for potential disqualification under Section 19 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Dixit faces multiple charges, including sections 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), section 184 (penalties for dangerous driving) of the Motor Vehicles Act, and section 3 (mischief causing damage to public property) of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act.
The ACP confirmed that legal proceedings are ongoing to address the property damage and alleged violations by Dixit. IANS
