Kochi: Malayalam actress Ansiba Hassan has alleged that a conspiracy was carried out against her within the actors’ association AMMA, claiming she was mentally harassed and subjected to trauma after a false complaint was filed against her.

Speaking to reporters at Kochi airport on Sunday, Ansiba said she was made to sit at a police station for nearly three hours over what she described as a twisted and fabricated complaint based on a minor issue.

“I was literally harassed at the police station for three hours. I still haven’t recovered from that trauma. Even now, I keep wondering at night why they did this to me for no reason,” she said.

Ansiba stated that she had always voiced her opinions within AMMA and stood by what she believed was right. She said she openly expressed objections during committee meetings and ensured they were recorded in the minutes.

Referring to actor Tini Tom, she said he was free to deny the allegations against him. “Why should I be worried about someone who entered the film industry years before me? In that committee, I was the most junior member in terms of both age and work experience,” she said.

Ansiba further claimed that remarks related to religious conversion were not made directly to her alone, but were allegedly spoken to several members of the association. She said executive committee member Neena Kurup had also heard such remarks and informed her about them.

She revealed that she resigned from AMMA on February 21 because she had become exhausted by the ongoing issues. According to her, problems within the organisation began when she prepared to contest for the post of joint secretary.

Ansiba also alleged that actor Anoop Chandran had posted a video against her, following which she filed a complaint. However, she claimed no action was taken on it.

“According to AMMA’s bylaws, those who speak against the association can be expelled. I was told that some women who spoke against AMMA would also be removed. I didn’t pursue the complaint further because I didn’t want those who supported me to be expelled. Nobody even tried to investigate the matter,” she said.

Ansiba had earlier alleged that Tini Tom was the reason behind her resignation from AMMA. She accused him of calling her a “jihadi”, spreading claims that she attempted religious conversion and circulating rumours about her personal relationships.

Responding to the allegations, Tini Tom said he did not know whether someone else was influencing Ansiba from behind the scenes.
