Actor Tini Tom has raised grave allegations against Unni Sivapal, the treasurer of Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), amid fresh controversies within the organisation. Tini Tom alleged that Unni Sivapal is failing to perform his duties as a treasurer while involving himself in unnecessary matters. Tini Tom, who is also an Executive Committee member, told Mathrubhumi that whenever these issues were pointed out, Unni took a stance of blaming those who were warning about it. He also suggested that General Secretary Kukku Parameswaran might have become an unwitting "scapegoat" in these administrative issues.

“I have been working with AMMA for the last ten years. Treasurer Unni is a close friend. However, errors have occurred even in signing several official documents of the organisation. Instead of correcting such mistakes when pointed out, such criticism was instead perceived as a personal insult. Despite Joy Mathew and Kailash from the Accounts Committee requesting the accounts multiple times, there has been a failure to present them accurately. Previously, under Edavela Babu’s leadership, there were clear accounts even for replacing a ‘light bulb’; now, many questions remain unanswered. The General Secretary is new to the position and has the limitations of a beginner. In this context, she may have become a scapegoat regarding administrative decisions,” Tini Tom remarked.

He further noted that decisions are currently being made unilaterally without the knowledge of other committee members. “The Executive Committee is responsible for appointing staff. However, dismissing a staff member without even the President’s knowledge is a major blunder. Regardless of whether the dismissed individual was right or wrong, the manner in which they were ousted was poor. Such illegal decisions are wrong, whether viewed from inside or outside the organisation.” Tini Tom added that he was unaware of the specific reasons behind Joint Secretary Ansiba’s resignation.

The internal rift became public following serious allegations by the former office manager, Athulya, against Treasurer Unni Sivapal and General Secretary Kukku Parameswaran. Athulya alleged that she was mentally harassed by Unni Sivapal. She further claimed that when she reported the Treasurer’s misconduct to the General Secretary, she was threatened and subsequently terminated from her job. Athulya has filed complaints with the Kochi Police Commissioner and the Labour Officer regarding the matter. Following these developments, news of Joint Secretary Ansiba’s resignation emerged, prompting Tini Tom to break his silence on the ongoing controversy.

Meanwhile, AMMA withdrew the termination of the employee. President Shwetha Menon clarified that the dismissal was revoked. She further stated to the media that the committee decided to place Unni Sivapal on extended leave until the case is resolved.
