Rajesh Madhavan's portrayal in the blockbuster film 'Nna Thaan Case Kodu' is truly unforgettable. This talented actor from Kasaragod has a unique ability to convey humour through his expressive eyes, making him a well-known face in Malayalam cinema today. His remarkable performances in movies like 'Kanakam Kamini Kalaham,' 'Nna Thaan Case Kodu,' 'Android Kunjappan,' and 'Thinkalazhcha Nalla Divasam' have further solidified his reputation. Audiences can look forward to seeing him once again on the silver screens as he reprises his iconic role from 'Nna Thaan Case Kodu' in 'Sureshinteyum Sumalathayudeyum Hridayahariyaya Pranayakatha.'
Unexpected casting in 'Nna Thaan Case Kodu'
I was initially the casting director for the movie 'Nna Thaan Case Kodu', but unexpectedly, I ended up playing the character of Sureshan. Director Ratheesh had a clear vision of what he wanted, and my understanding of his vision helped me select the right cast for the film. We completed the pre-shoots with Sreekanth playing the role of Sureshan. During the filming, the characters and their roles were rearranged, and the director asked me to step into the role of Sureshan. Despite it being an unforeseen opportunity, I made the decision to seize it.
Suresh and Sumalatha
A spin-off movie featuring Suresh and Sumalatha from ‘Nna Thaan Case Kodu’ was an unexpected development. I never once thought that the character of Sureshan in the film would be a hit. I still believe that the spin-off movie based on Suresh and Sumalatha is both an opportunity and a blessing. It was on the sets of the ‘Madanolsavam’ movie that Director Ratheesh mentioned his plans for the spin-off. The shooting started in May 2023, and it took almost a year to hit the screens. The movie is a visual experiment with a musical love story. I hope that the audience will accept it well.
'My body' is never my weakness
Several people have inquired about the physical appearance of the characters I portray. However, I have no qualms about my own physique. No one has ever suggested that my body type would hinder my opportunities in the film industry. My parents are also slender, so being of a similar build has never been an issue for me. I am fully capable of executing any physical feats or dance routines I desire. People often remark that my eyes tell a multitude of tales, though this is not something I consciously do. During my school years, I was recognised as the top actor in the Subdistrict Kalolsavam competition. I believe that my involvement in various dramatic productions since then has left a lasting impact on my eyes.
Life in Kolathur
I come from the village of Kolathur in Kasaragod district. Growing up in Kolathur, the idea of being a part of the film industry never crossed my mind. Even if I had the desire, circumstances did not allow me to pursue it. My journey into the media field began with television shows, which eventually led me to unexpectedly enter the world of cinema. My friendship with Syam Pushkaran and Dileesh Pothan opened doors that I never anticipated. Starting my career as an actor with 'Maheshinte Prathikaaram', I never imagined achieving great success. It was only after this film that I was given the opportunity to work as an assistant director on 'Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum'. Subsequently, I also worked as an assistant director on 'Kumbalangi Nights'. Each chance I have had to act in films has come as a pleasant surprise.
Wedding plans and dream project
I am getting married very soon. Me and Deepthi, associate director of ‘Nna Thaan Case Kodu’, are all set to tie the knot in next December. We first met on the set of the movie, but our relationship only blossomed into love after the film's release. Following this, my next aspiration is to direct my dream project titled 'Pennum Porattum'.
