In an unprecedented fusion of global sport and Indian cinema, Wimbledon has paid a historic tribute to the upcoming Thalapathy Vijay starrer ‘Jana Nayagan’ following Jannik Sinner’s electrifying victory over Carlos Alcaraz in the 2025 Wimbledon final.
The legendary tennis championship stunned fans worldwide by dropping a striking visual on its official social media handles: Sinner holding his trophy in a power-packed selfie pose — a direct mirror of Vijay’s iconic Republic Day poster from ‘Jana Nayagan’. The post, boldly captioned “The First Roar,” nodded to Anirudh Ravichander’s thunderous background score and declared, “JANNIK SINNER IS YOUR WIMBLEDON CHAMPION.”
This groundbreaking moment marks the first time Wimbledon has ever celebrated an Indian film and actor, catapulting Jana Nayagan and Thalapathy Vijay into the global pop culture spotlight months before the film’s release.
Helmed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by Venkat K Narayana under KVN Productions, ‘Jana Nayagan’ is slated for a worldwide theatrical debut on January 9, 2026, coinciding with Pongal and serving as the grand finale of Thalapathy Vijay’s legendary acting career. The film also reunites him with Pooja Hegde and features Bobby Deol in a pivotal role.
With Wimbledon’s powerful salute, ‘Jana Nayagan’ is already roaring on the world stage, setting the scene for what promises to be one of Indian cinema’s most monumental releases.
