Sunil Pal has reignited his long-running feud with Samay Raina, taking another swipe at the comedian after he was felicitated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Pal questioned why Raina was honoured by the government and warned about the message such recognition could send to young comedians.

The fresh attack has already sparked a reaction online, with Raina’s fans hitting back at Pal and accusing him of being jealous of the younger comedian.

‘Ghor kalyug aa gaya hai’

Pal did not hold back while reacting to Raina’s felicitation. “Ghor kalyug aa gaya hai, ghor kalyug,” he said, before questioning the decision to honour the India’s Got Latent comedian.

Pal referred to the controversial content associated with Raina’s show, particularly its use of abusive language, and asked why someone associated with such a controversy was being felicitated.

He also questioned the larger message behind the recognition, particularly for people trying to make a career in comedy.

According to Pal, the sequence could appear to young artists as: become a comedian, use abusive language, get caught up in police cases, create a controversy and make headlines — and eventually receive an honour.

Pal then turned his criticism into a sarcastic observation about what happens after an entertainer becomes successful.

“Jab aapko success mil jayegi fir aapko har aadmi salaam karega,” (Once you become successful, everyone will salute you) he remarked.

He went on to suggest that the same police officers who once dealt with a controversial comedian could later provide security, while a government that had earlier considered the person wrong could eventually honour them.

Pal also ended his remarks with a political jibe, saying, “He Devendra, He Narendra kya ho raha hai, sab dekh rahi hai Indira...(O Devendra, O Narendra, what is happening? Indira is watching everything).”

Pal's comments quickly became part of another social media debate surrounding the two comedians.

Raina's supporters criticised Pal, with some accusing him of being jealous of the younger comedian. Others responded with sarcastic comments, including, “Samay samay ki baat hai.”

Raina has not yet reacted to Pal's latest comments.

Why was Samay Raina felicitated?

The latest controversy follows Raina's appearance at the launch of a Maharashtra Cyber awareness short film and a new helpline anthem, where he was felicitated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Videos from the event showed Raina sharing a light-hearted interaction with Fadnavis and referencing the India’s Got Latent controversy in his speech. The clips subsequently went viral, with fans describing the moment as a “full-circle moment”.

Raina also posted a short video joking about his association with Maharashtra Cyber. He joked that he had saved the contact number because he had been contacted by the number several times during the India’s Got Latent controversy.

Samay Raina and Sunil Pal’s long-running feud

Pal's latest remarks are not the first time he has criticised Raina.

Their feud dates back to 2025, when Pal spoke out against Raina amid the controversy surrounding abusive language and objectionable jokes on India’s Got Latent. The two comedians later clashed during an appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show.

More recently, Pal also reacted strongly after being mocked on India’s Got Latent 2.

Now, with Raina being publicly felicitated by the Maharashtra government, Pal has once again questioned the comedian's recognition, giving their old feud another fresh turn.
