Mumbai: Comedian Samay Raina recently appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson, Vijaya Rahatkar, concerning controversial remarks made during his 'India's Got Latent' episode. The controversy ignited after comments by guest Ranveer Allahbadia regarding parents and sex went viral on social media, sparking widespread public backlash and leading to multiple police complaints against Allahbadia and others associated with the show in Mumbai and Guwahati.

During his appearance, Samay Raina submitted a written apology to the Commission, expressing his regret over the incident. Chairperson Rahatkar underscored the critical importance of maintaining the "highest respect and sensitivity" towards women, particularly within public forums. She urged Raina to not only adhere to this standard in his future statements but also to create content that actively promotes awareness about women's dignity and rights.

Raina, respecting the Commission's directive, assured them of his commitment to uphold these values going forward, emphasising that his assurance would contribute significantly to ensuring the dignity and respect of women. The NCW views this case as part of its broader initiative to hold media and digital platforms accountable for fostering greater respect and sensitivity towards women in society. The Mumbai police and cyber cell had launched separate investigations into Allahbadia's remarks on Raina’s YouTube show following the widespread outrage.
