Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 extends the mission of clean cooking energy by offering free LPG connections to an additional 1.6 crore women, including migrant families, ensuring safer, smoke-free kitchens and empowering households across India.

PMUY 2.0 (Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0) is a flagship scheme of the Government of India designed to provide deposit-free Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) connections to adult women from poor households that do not have an existing connection. The scheme aims to replace traditional cooking fuels like wood and cow-dung cakes with clean, modern LPG.
Benefits
Cash assistance for PMUY connections is provided by the Government of India - Rs. 1600 (for a connection 14.2kg cylinder/ Rs. 1150 for a 5 kg cylinder).
Cash assistance
- Security Deposit of Cylinder – Rs. 1250 for 14.2 kg cylinder/ Rs. 800 for 5 kg cylinder.
- Pressure Regulator – Rs. 150.
- LPG Hose – Rs. 100.
- Domestic Gas Consumer Card – Rs. 25.
- Inspection/ Installation/ Demonstration charges – Rs. 75.
Additionally, All PMUY beneficiaries will be provided with their first LPG refill and Stove (hotplate) both free of cost along with their deposit-free connection by the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).
Eligibility
- Adult women belong to any of the following categories.
- SC Households
- ST Households
- Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin)
- Most Backward Classes
- Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY)
- Tea and Ex-Tea Garden tribes
- Forest Dwellers
- People residing on Islands and River Islands
- SECC Households (AHL TIN)
- Poor Household as per 14-point declaration
- Applicant must have attained 18 years of age.
- There should not be any other LPG connections in the same household.
Documents required
- Know Your Customer(KYC)
- State-issued ration card, other State government document attesting to family composition, or self-declaration in accordance with Annexure I (for migrant applicants)
- Aadhaar of the beneficiary and adult family members appearing in the document at Sl.
- Proof of Address - Aadhaar will be taken as Proof of Identity and Proof of Address if the connection is required in the same address. In that case, only Aadhaar is sufficient.

- Provide the necessary information on the application form, such as your preferred LPG distributor, bank account information, and personal details.
- Attach the necessary documents along with the application form. The documents typically include proof of identity, proof of address, and proof of BPL category.
- Submit the completed application form along with the supporting documents to the nearest LPG distributor.
Online
- Visit the official website to submit an online application for the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0.
- Choose the option ‘Apply for the New Ujjwala 2.0 Connection’.
- Choose the name of the LPG distribution company, such as Indane, Bharatgas or HP Gas, by scrolling down to and clicking on Online Portal.
- Click on 'Register Now' on the selected LPG distribution company.
- Choose a connection type, such as Ujjwala 2.0 New Connection.
- Choose the State, District, Pin Code and Name of the Distributor. Then Enter your Mobile Number, Captcha and OTP.
- Choose the type of KYC New KYC and Normal KYC.
- Select Migrant Family status in YES or NO
- For the family Identifier in NO fill in Annexure 1
- For family identifier, if yes, fill in Ration Card
- Fill in all family details, personal details, address details, bank details, choose cylinder types, select rural or urban and select the declaration and submit.
- Generate the ‘Reference number’ and Print your applied form, attach all the documents you submitted online and visit the selected Gas agency.
