Kottayam: Aruvikkachal falls, the highest waterfall in Kottayam, is widely known for the safety offered to visitors. Though water bowls down from a height of 100 metres, the visitors can approach the river and have a refreshing bath without fear.

Aruvikkachal is located near Pathampuzha in the Thekkekara panchayat of Poonjar. A 13-kilometre-long journey from Erattupetta in Poonjar- Mundakayam road takes the visitors to Aruvikkachal.

Poonjar Tourism Perspective, a group founded in the locality is responsible for making the Aruvikkachal a favourite spot of people who visit with friends as well as families. The waterfalls attracted more travellers when its vicinities were made garbage-free and set up facilities to change clothes, eateries and parking areas.
