Alappuzha: The boat service between Kottayam and Alappuzha has restarted after being suspended for over a month. The first boat departed from Alappuzha at 11:30 am on Thursday and arrived in Kottayam at 2 pm. Officials from the State Water Transport Department have confirmed that all services will resume in the coming days.
The Kottayam District Legal Services Authority reviewed the case regarding the resumption of boat service just a day ago. The service halted as boats of the water transport department got stuck twice in the waterway as it was filled with water hyacinth.
The Kottayam-Alappuzha route is the oldest waterway of the Kerala Water Transport Department. In addition to regular travellers, many tourists from other districts and states visit to enjoy the scenic beauty. The backwater views from Kottayam to Alappuzha are one of the major tourist attractions.
