Alappuzha: The district Collector has issued an order to restrict the operation of Shikara boats and other small boats on various waterways here until further notice. Additionally, houseboats have been instructed to strictly adhere to safety measures.
The District Police Chief, District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) Secretary, Deputy Director of Tourism, and LSGD Joint Director have been assigned to ensure the strict implementation of this order.
Boat services, including Shikara, had been suspended due to heavy rains in Alappuzha over the past few days. The district received 100.04 mm of rain on Tuesday, leading to flooding in low-lying areas.
Furthermore, the District Collector has advised against trips to the beach and urged people to refrain from enjoying the shores.
