Thiruvananthapuram: SEED (Student Empowerment for Environmental Development), an initiative by Mathrubhumi to create environment awareness among students, won a special award constituted by the agriculture department of Kerala. The award honoured the interventions made by SEED to popularize agriculture.
Minister for agriculture, VS Sunil Kumar stated that the award jury evaluated SEED helped in creating awareness among the school students against exploiting the nature.
Malayala Manorama’s Nallapadam and National Service Scheme initiatives also won the honours.
Three persons who took up farming for the love for it and overcame their physical challenges were also bestowed with the state awards. Wayanad Vellamunda native Kumbhamma, Melmuri native Arun K and Thiruvananthapuram Kuttichal native Sreedharan won the honours.
