Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Trivandrum, Kerala-695 011, an Institution of National Importance, Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India, has invited applications for the DST-SCTIMST Summer Scholarships for SC and ST Students.
The scheme aims to give the students, exposure to biomedical research at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Trivandrum. Students get opportunity to interact closely with scientists, engineers and clinicians of SCTIMST who do research, development and testing of biomedical materials/devices.
These programs are supported by the Science for Equity Empowerment and Development (SEED) Division, Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India in a project mode. The training will be conducted in batches. Selection will be based on the ‘first come, first served’ basis.
The scheme is offered under 3 categories.
Category A: Students of higher secondary / intermediate levels are eligible. The course duration will be 4 weeks and students get a consolidated scholarship of Rs. 8,000/-. There are 8 seats- 4 seats for SC students and 4 for ST students.
Category B: Students of 2nd/3rd year BSc (Life sciences) or 2nd/3rd/4th year BTech/BE or equivalent or those who have completed the above courses. Duration will be 1-2 months and Scholarship will be Rs. 10,000 per month (consolidated). There are 10 seats (5 for SC students and 5 for ST students)
Category C: Students of 1st/2nd year of MSc/MTech or equivalent or those who have completed the above courses. Duration will be 1-2 months and Scholarship will be Rs. 15,000 per month (consolidated). There are 10 seats (5 for SC students and 5 for ST students)

Completed applications may be sent to ‘The Registrar, Division of Academic Affairs, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Medical College P.O., Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala- 695011’, along with copies of certificates to prove educational qualification, community/caste, etc. to reach latest by April 30, 2023.
On successful completion of the training program, certificates will be issued to students. A minimum of 80% attendance would be required for releasing the scholarship.
