Thiruvananthapuram: Police have arrested Rajesh, the key accused in a large-scale recruitment scam, in which fraudsters misused the names of the Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) and the union government-run Sree Chitra Institute to deceive job seekers. He was taken into custody from Chennai on Sunday and will be questioned at Vagamon police station.

Fake appointments targeted doctors, nurses and teachers

The scam involved issuing forged appointment letters to candidates, including doctors, nurses, and teachers, who believed they had secured official posts. Fraudsters collected substantial sums of money from applicants before sending out fake recruitment orders.

Many victims realised the deception only on September 12, when they arrived at Sree Chitra for their “appointments” and discovered the posts did not exist.

Well-organised network suspected

Rajesh is the third person arrested in connection with the scam. Police confirmed that one suspect remains at large, with efforts to trace them continuing. Investigators believe the scheme was orchestrated by a well-organised network, showing the large scale of the fraud.

The scam came to light after victims filed complaints, prompting a detailed investigation into the source of the forged documents.
