Nagpur: The National Testing Agency (NTA) Director General Abhishek Singh on Saturday said that the issue involving a Nagpur-based student being mistakenly allotted an examination centre in Abu Dhabi for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination has been resolved.

Speaking to ANI, Singh confirmed that the candidate has now been reassigned a centre in Nagpur, correcting what was described as an administrative error.

“The issue has been resolved, and the candidate has now been allotted a centre in Nagpur,” Singh said.

The clarification comes a day before the scheduled medical entrance re-examination on June 21, after reports emerged that the student had been assigned an overseas centre at Abu Dhabi Indian School in the UAE despite originally selecting centres in Nagpur, Wardha and Bhandara.

The student had earlier appeared for the original NEET exam at Saraswati Vidyalaya in Nagpur, but following the rescheduling of the test after a paper leak controversy, the revised admit card reportedly showed an unexpected shift to an overseas location.

The development left the family distressed, with the student’s father, Mohammad Talib, pointing out logistical difficulties. “We are completely unable to send our child abroad for the exam. He does not even have a passport, and there is no time left to make travel arrangements,” he said.

The family had raised the issue through the NTA helpline, which acknowledged the mistake and assured that a corrected admit card would be issued after verification.

Former Maharashtra Education Minister Dr. Anees Ahmed criticised the lapse, calling it a serious error by the testing authority and urging the NTA to immediately rectify the allocation by assigning a centre in Nagpur or a nearby city.
