A total of 64 students — comprising 56 boys and eight girls — secured positions in the top 10 merit list

Kolkata: The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education on Thursday announced the results of the Class 12 examinations, with the overall pass rate standing at 91.23 per cent.
The results covered candidates from the fourth semester under the new system, supplementary candidates from the third semester, and students appearing under the old annual examination format.
Girls outperformed boys in this year’s examination, recording a pass rate of 92.47 per cent compared with 89.71 per cent among boys.
A total of 64 students — comprising 56 boys and eight girls — secured positions in the top 10 merit list. Adrito Pal of Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya emerged as the state topper with 496 marks out of 500.
Second place was jointly secured by Jishnu Kundu of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith Purulia and Ritobrata Nath of Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, both scoring 495 marks.

The council said candidates dissatisfied with their fourth-semester results would be permitted to reappear for the examination next year after surrendering this year’s result.

Official figures showed that 7,10,811 candidates sat the higher secondary examination this year. Of these, 6,35,864 students appeared in the final semester examination under the new system, 59,452 took the supplementary examination for the second semester, and 15,495 students appeared under the old annual examination structure.
Meanwhile, Suvendu Adhikari congratulated successful candidates in a message posted on X.
“Your hard work, perseverance and self-confidence have resulted in success. May this achievement inspire you to dream even bigger in the future,” he wrote, wishing students success in their future endeavours.
