New Delhi: If you're currently studying in Class 10, or even in Classes 7, 8 or 9, you may not have to worry about sudden changes due to CBSE's new three-language policy.

In a major clarification, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has said that students already studying in these classes will not face any additional board exam burden because of the revised language rules.

The biggest relief is for current Class 10 students. They will continue under the existing system and will not be required to follow the new three-language policy.

CBSE has also clarified that students who are now in Classes 7, 8 and 9 will not have to write a board examination in a third language when they reach Class 10.

Another question many students have been asking is what happens if they are already studying foreign languages. According to the board, students in Classes 7, 8 and 9 who have chosen two foreign languages can continue studying them. However, they will also need to learn one Indian language, known as a "Bhartiya Bhasha."

To help schools and students adapt, CBSE said learning materials for different classes will be provided in a phased and timely manner.

The board stressed that the aim of the policy is not to increase academic pressure. Instead, it wants language learning to be more engaging, useful and enjoyable while supporting students' overall development.
