Starting the 2024-2025 academic year, applications for Plus one Community Quota admissions will be processed through the single window system aka ‘ekajalakam’. Currently, school authorities handle the application process, and they enter data based on the applications received. This method will be completely phased out.

The community quota allows for 20 percent of seats to be reserved for specific communities in backward and minority management schools. Only children from the management's community can apply for these seats. However, some managements have faced accusations of not following these norms in the admission process.

This year, there were 24,253 seats available under the community quota for Plus one admissions, but only 21,347 of those seats were filled, leaving 2,906 seats unfilled. The 20 percent seats of aided schools fall under management quota.
