ICMR- National Institute of Nutrition Hyderabad, Telangana State - 500 007, has notified dissertation/Internship opportunities to those pursuing Master’s degree in any branch of Life sciences, Social Science, Community Nutrition, Behavioural Sciences and Biostatistics to undertake research training towards partial fulfilment of their degree. 

Candidates will be exposed to identifying and developing research questions, research methods, good laboratory practice, developing writing and speaking skills for scientific presentation and orientation to equipment for future skill development applications.

The number of students to be selected will be determined by the specific need of the institute/supervisor, which will not exceed two students per supervisor at a given time point. Those admitted for project work must spend a minimum of 4 to 6 months in the laboratory for dissertation and 1 to 3 months for internship.

Eligibility: Applicants should be Master’s degree students of the disciplines Life sciences/Social Sciences/Allied sciences or of Professional degrees in universities/colleges, enthusiastic to carry out the final year/semester projects pertaining to their curriculum. Applicants should possess a good academic record as evidenced by the first year or last semester mark list. Only those pursuing the degree with an academic requirement of undergoing a dissertation or internship as a part of their curriculum will be recruited.

Applications for dissertation/Internship for the July-December session will be accepted till June 15 of the same year. 

Those interested must visit https://www.nin.res.in/, identify a scientist to work under [based on the area of interest], contact the concerned scientist [via email] and seek his/her approval before proceeding for formal application procedure.

Application form may be downloaded from https://www.nin.res.in/dissertation.html, completed and sent as email to the scientist under whom the applicant wishes to do the internship/dissertation. 

Application procedure: Applicant should submit with the application form (i) A request letter to Director, ICMR-NIN from the HoD/Principal of the college or University seeking the placement for the dissertation/Internship to be emailed by the candidate to the concerned scientist. This letter should state the academic merit and interpersonal communication skills of the candidate and (ii) A declaration form in prescribed format, duly signed by the HOD/Principal of the college/University as well as by the student needs to be submitted by the candidate to the concerned scientist. Admission will not be made in the absence of these two documents.

Project Fee: The students admitted to the project work should pay the registration fee of Rs.3000/- and project fee of Rs. 1000/- per month in advance for the complete duration of the project at the time of admission, by online transfer mode only as per the details given in the Guidelines at https://www.nin.res.in/dissertation.html. Candidates need to pay the fee on the day of joining ICMR-NIN.

 A certificate of completion will be issued to the student upon completion of the internship/dissertation.
