Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) Nagpur, Maharashtra, has invited applications for M. Tech. Sponsored Admissions 2026-27 for GATE and Non-GATE Sponsored candidates.

The Institute will offer the following full-time M. Tech. programs of two years’ (four semesters) duration during the academic year 2026-27.

The department/center and name of the M.Tech. program are as follows:

(i) Centre for VLSI and Nanotechnology- VLSI Design

(ii) Applied Mechanics - Structural Engineering; Structural Dynamics & Earthquake Engineering

(iii) Architecture and Planning -Urban Planning

(iv) Chemical Engineering-Chemical Engineering

(v) Civil Engineering -Construction Technology & Management; Environmental Engineering; Geotechnical Engineering; Transportation Engineering; Water Resources Engineering

(vi) Computer Science and Engineering-Computer Science and Engineering

(vii) Electrical Engineering- Power & Energy Systems; Power Electronics and Drives

(viii) Electronics and Communication Engineering-Communication system Engineering

(ix) Mechanical Engineering- Production and Industrial Engineering; Heat Power Engineering; CAD-CAM; Biomedical Engineering

(x) Metallurgical and Materials Engineering- Materials Engineering; Process Metallurgy

(xi) Mining Engineering-Excavation Engineering.

Details of the eligibility criteria for admission to full-time M. Tech. Programs of two years’ duration conducted by the Institute are given in Table -2 of the Information Brochure at https://vnit.ac.in/ (M. Tech. Sponsored Admissions Academic Session 2026-27 link).

Up to 5 seats (non-stipendiary) are available for sponsored candidates in all programs except Environmental Engineering. The seats under the sponsored category in Environmental Engineering are reserved for the Government of India, Ministry of Urban Development, under the CPHEEO scheme.

Sponsored candidates (Group C) will be classified as follows:

(i)Group-C1: Candidates recommended by various ministries of the Central as well as State Governments, Govt. R&D Organizations and Public Sector Undertakings

(ii) Group-C2: Candidates from the industries and teachers from private institutions with qualified GATE scores

(iii) Group-C3: Candidates from the industries and teachers from private institutions without qualified GATE scores or did not appear for the GATE examination.

Group C sponsored candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience in the relevant field in which admission is being sought after attaining the qualifying degree/certificate in a registered firm/company/industry/educational and/or research institute/any government department or government autonomous organization. The candidate must submit the sponsorship cum experience certificate in the prescribed format along with the application form. Group-C3 candidates will have to appear for a written test as per the schedule given in Table 3 of the Information Brochure.

Applications can be submitted online at the link provided in the Information Brochure latest by 1st February 2026 (Sunday). An application fee of Rs. 500/- has to be paid online through VNIT's payment portal (Link: https://pay.vnit.ac.in/home). After payment, the applicant shall mention the VNIT Payment Ref. No. in the application form and attach a printed copy of the receipt to the hard copy of the online application at the time of the spot round.

The list of eligible applicants, category-wise (Group C1, Group C2, and Group C3 candidates), will be displayed on the notice board & website on 13th February 2026 (Friday). Discrepancies, if any, in the list shall be reported by the candidate via email to the faculty coordinators of the department on or before 16th February, 2026 (Monday). The written test for Group C3 candidates will be held on 20th February, 2026 (Friday). The merit list (for Group C3 candidates) will be displayed on the notice board & website by 5 pm on 25th February 2026 (Wednesday).

Admission will be held on 2nd March 2026 (Monday) at VNIT, Nagpur. It is mandatory for all the candidates on the merit list to be present personally during the admission round.
