Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad, Haryana-121001, has invited applications for admission to its PhD Programme in Biotechnology 2025-26 (Monsoon Semester)

RCB is an institution of national importance, established by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, under the auspices of UNESCO.

The Centre offers a doctoral programme leading to the award of the PhD degree to students holding a postgraduate degree/equivalent in any field of science, medicine or technology. The selected students undergo coursework followed by research leading to a doctoral thesis under the mentorship of a faculty. The programme is suited to candidates having an interest in working at the interface of multiple disciplines in the areas related (but not limited to) to structural biology, molecular medicine, infectious disease biology, agricultural biotechnology, systems and synthetic biology, and cancer & cell biology. Eligibility: The applicant should hold a 4-year bachelor’s degree or master’s degree from a recognised institution in any area of science and technology or a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree or an equivalent degree with a 60% aggregate score or equivalent grade in the qualifying degree examination (55% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/differently abled as per the Government of India norms). 

In addition, the applicant should have qualified in any of the following examinations and should hold a valid fellowship offer at the time of the interview: (i) Joint CSIR-UGC test for Junior Research Fellowship (CSIR/UGC JRF) (ii) DBT Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF) (iii) ICMR Junior Research Fellowship (ICMR-JRF) (iv) Any other nationally competitive fellowship offered by the Government of India. Candidature is contingent upon holding a valid fellowship tenable for a period of 5 years.

The number of seats is 17. Reservation of seats will be as per the Government of India guidelines.

Application: An application can be submitted at the notification link at www.rcb.res.in (announcements link) latest by 30.05.2025.

Application fee: SC/ST/PwD/EWS candidates are exempted from payment of the application fee. For others the application fee is Rs.500/-, to be paid before the due date.

Selection: The applications received by the due date will be scrutinised for eligibility. Eligible candidates will be called for a written test and/or interview scheduled for 3-4 July 2025 at RCB, Faridabad.

Fellowship: The students admitted to the programme will have to avail the fellowship for which they have qualified as per the rules of the funding agency. RCB will have no financial liability regarding the same.

The student admitted to the PhD programme will have to pay various fees as given in the notification. The fee may be revised during the course as per the provisions in the RCB Ordinance.
