Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), NCR Biotech Science Cluster, 3rd Milestone, Faridabad-Gurugram Expressway, Faridabad, Haryana - 121 001; an Institution of National Importance, established by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, under the auspices of UNESCO has invited applications for admission to the PhD Programme in Biotechnology Autumn Semester 2024-25.

The Centre offers a doctoral programme leading to the award of the PhD degree to students holding a Post-graduate degree/equivalent in any field of Science, Medicine or Technology. The selected students undergo coursework followed by research leading to a doctoral thesis under the mentorship of a faculty. The programme is suited to candidates having an interest in working at the interface of multiple disciplines in the areas related (but not limited) to Structural Biology, Molecular Medicine, Infectious Disease Biology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Systems and Synthetic Biology, and Cancer & Cell Biology. Eligibility

Applicant should hold MSc/MTech in any branch of Life Sciences/ Chemistry/ Physics/MPharma/MVSc/MBBS or an equivalent degree with 60% aggregate score or equivalent grade in the qualifying degree examination (55% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/differently-abled). There are 17 seats and Reservation of seat will be as per the Government of India guidelines.

Applicants should have qualified for any of the following examinations and should hold a valid fellowship offer at the time of the interview: (i) Joint CSIR-UGC test for Junior Research Fellowship (CSIR/UGC JRF) (ii) DBT Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF) (iii) ICMR Junior Research Fellowship (ICMR-JRF) (iv) Any other nationally competitive fellowship offered by the Government of India having valid fellowship for a period of 5 years.

Application

Application shall be submitted online at https://phd.rcb.ac.in/ by 10.11.2024.  Application fee of Rs.500/- is to be paid before the due date. SC/ST/PwD/EWS candidates are exempt from payment of application fee. 

Selection

Eligible candidates will be called for a written test and/or interview during 19-20 December 2024 at RCB, Faridabad.

Fellowship

Those admitted to the programme will have to avail the fellowship for which they have qualified as per the rules of the funding agency. RCB will have no financial liability regarding the same.

Fee

The student admitted to the PhD programme will have to pay the following fees: (i) Laboratory Fees- Rs. 6000 per semester (ii) Tuition Fees (1st & 2nd Semester Only)- Rs. 6000 per semester (iii) Academic Administration Fees- Rs. 5000 per semester (iv) Medical Fees - Rs. 3000 per semester (v) Student Amenities Fees - Rs. 1000 per semester (vi) Caution Money- Rs. 5000 (once, at the time of admission, refundable) (vii) Thesis Examination Fees - Rs. 10000 (at the time of submission of thesis). Hostel security and charges will be applicable in case of availing hostel facility.
