Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), an autonomous Institution of the University Grants Commission, Post Bag - 4, Savitribai Phule Pune University Campus, Ganesh Khind, Pune - 411007, has invited applications for Research Scholarship towards a Ph.D. degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics or Physics.
Eligibility: Those who have already completed and those who expect to complete their M.Sc. degree (in Physics, Applied Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Electronics, or Astronomy) or B.E./ B.Tech./ M.E./ M.Tech. degree (in any branch) with minimum 55% marks (50%, for those belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL/ EWS or Person with Disabilities (PwD) category), by July are eligible to apply.
In addition, talented final year B.Sc., 1st year M.Sc. (in Physics / Applied Physics / Electronics / Astronomy / Applied Mathematics), 2nd / 3rd year Integrated M.Sc. and 2nd / 3rd year B.E. / B.Tech. (any branch) students can also apply to be pre-selected for research scholarship to do Ph.D. at IUCAA.
Applicants should either be eligible for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Physical Sciences through the Joint CSIR UGC NET (2022 & 2023) with a valid score card at the time of admission or should have cleared JEST-2024 in Physics. Selection: Selection for the research scholarship will be based on JEST-2024 or a valid CSIR/UGC NET JRF score in Physical Sciences (2022 & 2023) and two rounds of interviews. The interviews will be conducted in-person during May 15-17, 2024 at IUCAA, Pune. The details of the interviews will be informed later.
The academic year 2024-25 at IUCAA will begin on August 01, 2024.
