IUCAA invites applications for its 2025 Ph.D. programme in Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Physics research

The Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics, an Autonomous Institution of the University Grants Commission, Post Bag 4, Ganeshkhind, Savitribai Phule Pune University Campus, Pune 411 007, has invited applications for admission to IUCAA's Ph.D. Programme 2025 for Research Scholarship towards a Ph.D. degree in the area of Astronomy and Astrophysics or Physics.
This call is for those who have qualified in JEST-2025 and/or CSIR-UGC NET for JRF (Physics) 2023 & 2024. Those applying solely based on the JEST-2025 score should apply only after the declaration of the JEST results.
Eligibility
Applicant should have already completed or should be expecting to complete before August 01, 2025, an M.Sc. (in Physics / Electronics / Astronomy / Applied Mathematics) or B.E. / B.Tech. / M.E. / M.Tech. degree (any branch).
In addition, talented final-year B.Sc., 1st-year M.Sc. (in Physics, Electronics / Astronomy / Applied Mathematics), 2nd / 3rd-year Integrated M.Sc., and 2nd / 3rd-year B.E. / B.Tech. (any branch) students can also apply to be pre-selected.
All students should have an aggregate or equivalent of 55% marks or more in the qualifying degree (50% for applicants belonging to the SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS or Person with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category).
Interviews
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for two rounds of in-person interviews during July 24-25, 2025. The details of the interviews will be informed later.
