Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) has invited applications for admission to the MA in Development Studies and Ph.D in Sociology and German, offered by the Humanities and Social Sciences Department of the Institute.

For admission to the two-year M.A. in Development Studies program starting in August 2020, applicant should hold a Bachelor Degree (e.g. B.A./B.Com/B.Sc. in Economics, Sociology, Anthropology, History, Political Sciences, Public Policy, Environmental Science or equivalent discipline; or B.Tech. /B.E. or equivalent) from a recognized University. Applicant should have secured at least 55% marks (or 6.0 CGPA on a scale 10) in their qualifying examination. Relaxation of marks/grades, as per institute rules, is available to those belonging to reserved categories.

Applications can be submitted latest by 15 May 2020. Those awaiting final results of their qualifying exam are also eligible to apply.

The list of all shortlisted candidates will be notified on IIT Mandi website. Shortlisted candidates have to appear for a written test followed by an interview.

Applications have been invited for admission to Ph.D. program in following disciplines and areas of research in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences for the semester commencing in August, 2020: (i) Sociology: Urban Studies, Sociology of Religion, Post-reform India (ii) German: German Studies, Translation Studies.

For Full time research scholar position a, applicant should hold Post-Graduate degree in relevant field with minimum 55% (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PH) and must have qualified UGC–JRF/NET or Equivalent examination.

For Part-time research scholar positions, those working on Faculty position in academic institutions in HP or J&K, those working in organizations of repute in any part of country are eligible. Applicants should have two years of work experience, and PostGraduate degree in relevant field with minimum 55% (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PH).

Date of Written Test and Interview will be announced later. Last date for submission of applications is May 15, 2020.

Applications have also been invited for admission to the Ph.D programmes at the School of Basic Sciences- In Physical Sciences, Chemical sciences, Biological Sciences and Mathematics & Statistics. Last date for submission of applications is May 5, 2020.
