K R Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science & Arts Thekkumthala, Kanjiramattom P.O., Kottayam, Kerala-686585, the film school established by Government of Kerala conceived as an innovative venture in professional film / audio-visual training, has notified the admission to various Postgraduate Diploma Programmes for 2024. 

Full Time residential PG Diploma Programs of 3 years’ duration are offered in (i) Script-Writing & Direction (ii) Editing (iii) Cinematography (iv) Audiography (v) Acting and (vi) Animation & Visual Effects. 

The curriculum consists of two sets of courses: (i) Common Courses (ii) Specialization Courses. Details are given in the Prospectus.

The medium of instruction in the Institute is English. There are 10 seats in each of the 6 programs. 

Eligibility: Applicant should have passed a Degree Course from any University approved by UGC/Government of Kerala. Those who have appeared for the final examination and are awaiting results may also apply, provided, the certificate or mark-sheet of the qualifying examination shall be submitted at the time of admission.

Selection: Eligible applicants shall undergo a two stage screening. Stage 1 will be a Preliminary entrance examination to be held at Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Calicut, Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai for preliminary screening on 16.6.2024 (tentative).

Scheme of Entrance Examination: The preliminary entrance examination will be of one-hour duration and will carry a maximum of 50 marks. It will have two parts. Part-I will be General awareness which will have objective type questions to be answered on OMR answer sheets. For every correct answer 1 mark will be awarded. There is no negative marking. Part-II is a Special Aptitude Test of 2-hours duration, carrying a maximum of 100 marks. It will have descriptive questions/visual assisted questions to assess the candidate’s understanding of cinema. 

The Entrance examination will have questions at the level of Degree students. 

Those who are shortlisted based on the score in the Entrance Examination, will be called for an Orientation and interview in the second stage to be conducted at the campus of the Institute at Kottayam. The date and time of the orientation programme and interview will be intimated to the short listed candidates.

Application Fee: Application fee is Rs. 2000/- for General candidates and Rs.1000/- for SC/ST/Differently abled/Women candidates and LGBTQ+ candidates. The amount can be remitted online using Credit/Debit card or through Net banking or through modes specified at the website.
