A fire at the K R Narayanan Film Institute in Kottayam gutted a film set worth about ₹6 lakh; no injuries were reported.

Kottayam (Kerala): A fire broke out at the K R Narayanan Film Institute at Pallikkathode here on Monday evening, destroying a film set worth around ₹6 lakh. The incident occurred at about 7 pm inside the shooting auditorium, where a rural set had been erected for filming.
No one was present on the set at the time of the fire. Fire and rescue service units from Pampady and Pala brought the blaze under control after nearly one and a half hours.
According to the fire force, shooting had taken place at the location earlier in the day. Items such as a stove had been arranged for the shoot, and officials suspect the fire may have spread from these materials. The exact extent of the damage is yet to be assessed.
