National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT), Ministry of Tourism, Government of India; A 34, Secto 62, Noida-201309, has invited applications for the National Hospitality Teachers Eligibility Test (NHTET), November 2024.

Scope

NHTET is for determining the eligibility for Assistant Lecturer (AL) and Teaching Associates (TA) in NCHMCT affiliated Institutes of Hotel Management (IHMs). Only those declared eligible for Assistant Lecturer can apply against any vacancy, if announced by NCHMCT affiliated IHMs, either of Government sector, PSU owned or Private sector. NHTET qualified candidate will not have any right of automatic induction in NCHMCT affiliated IHMs, but have to face separate selection process for getting selected. No NCHMCT affiliated IHMs shall recruit any Teaching Associate or Assistant Lecturer under direct recruitment against any regular vacancy if the candidate does not have a valid NHTET pass certificate. 

Eligibility

Applicant should hold a Full time Bachelor's Degree (Open and Distance Learning- ODL mode) in Hospitality Administration/ Hotel Management/ Culinary Art after 10+2 with at least 55% marks and at least 2 years Hospitality Industry experience after obtaining Degree (6 months Industry Training is part of Course which is not to be considered as experience for this purpose) or Post Graduation in Hospitality/ Tourism or MBA and (+) full-time Degree/ full-time 3 years Diploma in Hotel Administration/ Hospitality Management/ Hotel Management/ Hospitality Administration/ Culinary Arts/ Culinary Science (not on ODL mode) with minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade from NCHMCT; NCHMCT affiliated Institute, Institute approved by AICTE/SBTE; Institute affiliated to University duly recognized by UGC; Central/State/Deemed to be University recognized by UGC, obtained after 12th from a recognized Board. (The diploma for which pre-requisite minimum qualification fixed by NCHMCT/ AICTE/SBTE/ Recognized University, is 12th pass only and not 10th). 

Age

Upper age limit: For General and EWS Categories: TA- 30 years, AL- 35 years; OBC Category: TA- 33 years, AL-38 Years; SC/ST and PD Categories: TA- 35 years, AL- 40 years. The maximum age in NHTET to be held from July to November, will be reckoned as on 31st December of the same year. 

Scheme of NHTET

The Test will have 3 papers to be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode at selected exam centres. It is scheduled to be held on 17th November 2024 (Sunday) in two sittings. All the three papers will consist of only objective type questions. The test will be held in two separate sessions each of 2 hours’ duration. First session will have Paper I and Paper II from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, each with 50 Questions. Second Session will have Paper III from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with 100 Questions. Paper-I shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test aptitude and method towards teaching, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness/ knowledge of the candidate. Paper-II shall consist of questions from Nutrition, Food science, General Management, hotel accounts and Food Costing. Paper-III will be of two types, one for ‘Generic’ and another for ‘F & B Specialisation’. A candidate has to select one among the two according to their qualification. The Generic paper will consist of MCQs from the four core areas of hospitality - Food Production, F & B Service and Management, Accommodation Operation Management and House Keeping Management (25 questions from each area). The F & B Specialisation paper will consist of MCQs from the two core areas of F & B Specialisation- Food Production and F & B Service (60 questions and 40 questions respectively). Hospitality/Hotel Management graduates should apply for ‘Generic’ and Culinary graduates should apply for ‘F&B Specialization’ only.

Application: Application can be submitted online at https://nhtet-nchm.in/ latest by 1.11.2024. Downloading of admit card can be done during 11.11.2024 to 17.11.2024. 

Downloading of individual response sheet and answer key by the appeared candidates and Challenge of Answer key by the appeared candidate with proper evidence, can be done in the portal from 19.11.2024 to 22.11.2024.

Uploading of revised (final) Answer Key, if any changes are made after challenge will be done on 26.11.2024.

Result of NHTET November 2024 will be declared on or before 05.12.2024.
