Forest Research Institute (FRI) Deemed to be University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand -248195, has invited applications for admission to the Master of Science Courses 2024.
Programs and eligibility for admission are as follows:
(i) M.Sc. Forestry (43 Seats): B.Sc. degree with at least one of the subjects namely Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology or a B.Sc. degree in Agriculture or Forestry.
(ii) M.Sc. Wood Science & Technology (43 Seats): B.Sc. degree with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) or B.Sc. degree in Forestry.
(iii) M.Sc. Environment Management (43 Seats): B.Sc. degree in any branch of Basic or Applied Sciences or Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or Agriculture or BE/B.Tech in Environment Science.
(iv) M.Sc. Cellulose & Paper Technology (26 Seats): B.Sc. degree with Chemistry as one of the subjects or BE/B.Tech. Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
For all Programs, applicants should have a minimum of 50% marks in all the three science subjects together (45% marks for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes).
Five seats are reserved in M.Sc. Environment Management course for in-service candidates working in Government Departments/Autonomous bodies under the Central/State/Union Territory/ICFRE. However, if in-service candidates are not available then the seats reserved for them will be filled up by general candidate(s). The maximum age limit in respect of in-service candidates to M.Sc. Environment Management course shall be 50 years. The age shall be reckoned as on 31st July 2024 and no further relaxation will be given in any case.
Selection: Selection will be based on an Online Remote Proctored Entrance Test to be held on 19th May, 2024. It will be an objective type written test of three hours’ duration with questions grouped under the following four sections: (i) Basic Sciences including Social Science (100 questions) (ii) Arithmetic and Quantitative abilities, Computational ability, Quantitative reasoning, Interpretation of Tables, Graphs, etc. (40 questions) (iii) General Knowledge and Current Affairs (30 questions) (iv) English Language, Comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar, Idioms, etc. (30 questions). There will be negative marking for wrong answers to the extent of one-fourth (¼) of the marks allotted to the questions.
A merit list of candidates including a waiting list will be formed for each course on the basis of aggregate marks secured in the written test. Candidates will be selected in order of merit in all the categories. The list of selected candidates will be declared on the website www.fridu.edu.in. Date of first counseling is 08th July, 2024 and date of second counseling is 12th July, 2024. The candidates will be suitably advised before they come for counseling.
Reservation: Of the total seats, reservation will be as follows: (a) SC & ST: 15% and 7.5% respectively (b) Reservation to OBC: will be provided as per the policy of Govt of India (c) Physically Handicapped: 3% reservation (d) In Service candidates - 5 seats for M.Sc. Application is to be submitted online at www.fridu.edu.in by 8th April, 2024. Those awaiting results of qualifying examinations may also apply provisionally.
Application fee per course is Rs. 1500/- to be paid by way of Demand draft in favour of Registrar, FRI Deemed to be University payable at Dehradun. Those applying for more than one course are required to fill up separate admission forms and separate fees for each course.
