Forest Research Institute (FRI), a Deemed to be University, Dehradun, has invited applications for its MSc programmes for the academic year 2025. The institute offers four MSc courses, with eligibility criteria and seat availability as follows:

Courses and Eligibility:

  • MSc Forestry (43 seats) – Bachelor's degree in Science with at least one of Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology or a Bachelor's in Agriculture/Forestry.
  • MSc Wood Science & Technology (43 seats) – Bachelor's degree in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry or BSc Forestry.
  • MSc Environment Management (43 seats) – Bachelor's degree in basic/applied sciences, Forestry, Agriculture, or BE/BTech in Environment Science.
  • MSc Cellulose & Paper Technology (26 seats) – Bachelor's degree in Science with Chemistry or BE/BTech in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering. Second-year classes will be conducted at CPPRI, Saharanpur.

Candidates must have a minimum of 50% marks in their qualifying exam (45% for SC/ST). Reservation for OBC, EWS, SC, ST, and PwD categories will follow GOI norms.

  • Application forms can be downloaded from www.fridu.edu.in or obtained from FRI’s office.
  • Fee: ₹1500 per course (₹3000 for two courses, ₹4500 for three). Payment via Demand Draft to Registrar, FRI Deemed to be University, payable at Dehradun.
  • Last date for form issue by post: 10 March 2025.
  • Completed forms must reach The Registrar, FRI Deemed to be University, P.O. IPE Kaulagarh Road, Dehradun–248195 by 31 March 2025.
  • Candidates awaiting final year results may apply provisionally, but they must submit their mark sheets before admission.

Selection Process:

Entrance Test Date: 4 May 2025

Test Centres: Dehradun, Jabalpur, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Delhi, Lucknow, Jodhpur, Shimla, Ranchi, Coimbatore, Jorhat, Hyderabad.

Exam Pattern: Objective-type, 3-hour duration

  • Basic Sciences & Social Science (100 questions)
  • Arithmetic & Quantitative Abilities (40 questions)
  • General Knowledge & Current Affairs (30 questions)
  • English Language & Comprehension (30 questions)
  • Negative marking: ¼ mark deducted per wrong answer.
