Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, an Autonomous Institution under Dept. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India; Jakkur Post, Bengaluru - 560 064, has invited applications for admissions to the Research Programmes [(Ph.D. / MS(Engg.) / MS(Research)] offered by the Chemistry and Physics of Materials Unit (CPMU), Molecular Biology and Genetics Unit (MBGU), New Chemistry Unit (NCU) and Neuroscience Unit (NSU)

Eligibility: Applicant should have M Sc. or equivalent, B.E/B.Tech or equivalent or M.E/M. Tech or equivalent or B.VSc/M.VSc or MBBS/MD as applicable to individual Units as given in the detailed notification at https://www.jncasr-admissions.in/

The subjects of qualifying degree for individual units include the following (as applicable).

Master’s Degree: Chemical/ Electronics/Physical/Material Sciences; Biotechnology / Biochemistry; Botany, Zoology, Life Sciences, Bioinformatics; Chemistry

BE/B.Tech: Chemical / Electrical /Electronics /Metallurgy/Polymer/ Engineering Physics /Nano Technology; in any Biology related area, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology;

M.E/M.Tech:  Chemical / Electronics/ Electrical / Polymer; in any Biology related area, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology

Applicants should have at least 50% marks in their highest University examination and should also have qualified in the GATE / JEST /GPAT or UGC -/ CSIR - NET-JRF/ / ICMR - JRF / DBT-JRF/ INSPIRE-JRF. Preference will be given for JRFs of CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR or INSPIRE. The award certificate of such test should be valid as on 3rd January 2022.

ME/M. Tech or equivalent degree holders are required to qualify in one of the national exams mentioned above. However exceptional candidates without these exams may also be considered.

Selection: Applicants will be short-listed for an interview based on their performance in the national entrance test and /or qualifying degree. The selection is based on the performance in the interview (in some units, an aptitude test/preliminary interview will precede the final interview)
