Indian Maritime University (IMU), with Headquarters in Chennai and campuses at Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai Port, Navi Mumbai and Visakhapatnam; has invited applications for the Common Entrance Test (IMU-CET) for admissions to its Programmes at IMU campuses, Affiliated Institutes and Non-Affiliated Institutes with IMU.
UG Programmes: (i) B.Tech. (Marine Engineering) at Chennai, Kolkata & Mumbai Port (ii) B.Tech. (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering) at Visakhapatnam (iii) B.Tech. (Naval Architecture & Ship Building) at Visakhapatnam (iv) B.Sc. (Nautical Science) at Chennai, Kochi & Navi Mumbai (v) Apprenticeship embedded BBA (Maritime Logistics) in collaboration with LSC at Visakhapatnam (vi) BBA (Logistics, Retailing and E-Commerce) at Chennai & Kochi (vii) 1 year Diploma in Nautical Science - Chennai & Navi Mumbai.
B.Tech Programs are of 4 years duration and B.Sc./BBA Programs, of three years duration.
Those seeking admission in Pre-Sea Courses Diploma in Nautical Science, B.Sc. (Nautical -Science) and B.E / B.Tech. (Marine Engineering) to any Maritime Training Institutes (MTI) (Govt. or Private- Affiliated to any University) are required to qualify in IMU-CET.
PG Programmes: (i) MBA (International Transportation & Logistics Management) at Chennai, Kochi, Kolkata, & Visakhapatnam (ii) MBA (Port & Shipping Management) at Chennai & Kochi (iii) M.Tech. (Marine Technology) at Kolkata (iv) M.Tech. (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering) at Visakhapatnam (v) M.Tech. (Dredging & Harbour Engineering) at Visakhapatnam (vi) MBA (Port & Shipping Logistics) Joint programme with 1st year at Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya and 2nd year at Indian Maritime University (All PG Program are of 2 years’ duration) (vii) 1 year Post Graduate Diploma in Marine Engineering - Mumbai Port.

For B.Tech/B.Sc./Diploma (Nautical Science) Programs, applicants need to have passed Plus 2/equivalent examinations with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. For Diploma Program, those with B.E./B.Tech. or B.Sc with specified science subjects can also apply. For admission to MBA, those who have passed Plus 2/equivalent are eligible to apply.
For M.Tech and PG Diploma admissions, applicants need B.E/B.Tech in specified branches. For MBA in (i) International Transportation and Logistics Management and (ii) Port & Shipping Management, applicants need a Bachelor’s degree in any subject. For MBA (Port & Shipping Logistics) eligibility is Bachelor's degree in any discipline with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects.
For different UG and PG Programs, there would be conditions related to marks in the qualifying examination, Age, marital status, Physical fitness etc; as applicable. Detailed eligibility conditions are given in the Prospectus.
Selection will be based on IMU-CET for UG (B.Tech, B.Sc, DNS) Programmes, IMU- CET for M.Tech. Programme and IMU- CET for MBA Programmes. Those who have qualified in the following exams can also seek admission: (i) GATE/CUET-(PG)/PG-CET: For PG Programmes. However, preference will be given to candidates with IMU-CET rank (ii) CAT/ MAT/ CMAT/UG Marks: For MBA Programmes. However, preference will be given to candidates with IMU-CET rank. Admission to BBA will be on merit basis based on the aggregate of 12th standard marks.
The IMU-CETs are scheduled to be held in CBT (Computer Based Test) mode from 11 am to 2 pm on 24.05.2025. Details on the Test Structure are available in the Prospectus.

Application Fee: (i) BBA: Rs. 200/- for General /General-EWS/ OBC (NCL) candidates; Rs. 140/- for SC / ST candidates (ii) For all other UG and PG Programme: Rs. 1000/- for General /General-EWS/ OBC (NCL) candidates; Rs. 700/- for SC / ST candidates.
Online Registration (Except BBA Programmes) can be done till 6 pm on 6.5.2025. For BBA, last date is 30.6.2025.
