Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has invited applications for admission to the interdisciplinary four-year (eight semesters) BTech program in Mathematics and Computing.

The program is aimed at producing leaders who will be at the forefront of research, development, and innovation in futuristic disciplines and next generation technologies that require deep use of Mathematics, Computer science and Data Science.

Course curriculum: (i) Core courses in Mathematics: Analysis and Linear Algebra I, II, Probability and Statistics, Basic Analysis, Introduction to Algebraic Structures (ii) Core courses in Computing: Algorithms and Programming, Introduction to Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Introduction to Computer Systems, Discrete Mathematics, Data Structures and Algorithms, Automata Theory and Computability, Introduction to Numerical Methods, Introduction to AI and ML (iii) Breadth Soft Core: 12 credits from a selection of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Material Science, Earth and Environmental Science subjects (iv) Humanities: 9 credits.

The soft core consists of the Mathematics and Computing streams. Students have to take at least 6 credits in each stream from the specified lists of courses. Students have to take at least 21 credits from the list of soft core courses. Courses from the list of soft core courses can also be taken as electives.

Eligibility: Applicant should have passed Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2023,2024 or 2025, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in the first appearance. In addition, they must satisfy at least one of the following: (i) Must have passed and secured at least 75% aggregate marks (65% for SC, ST and PwD candidates) in the Class XII/equivalent Board examination (ii) Must be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII/equivalent board examination.

The marks scored in (i) Physics (ii) Chemistry (iii) Mathematics (iv) A language (v) Any subject other than the above four will be considered for calculating the aggregate and cut-off marks for fulfilling the top 20 percentile criterion. If the candidate has taken more than one subject under (iv) and (v), then subject with higher marks will be considered.
