Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore-560012, has notified the admissions to various Programs at the institute for 2025-26.

Applications have been invited for admission to the following Programs. 

Research Programmes [Ph D/M Tech (Research)]: Programs are offered in Science Faculty, Engineering Faculty and in Interdisciplinary areas. M. Tech (Research) is offered in Engineering Faculty and by certain Science Faculty Departments and Interdisciplinary areas.

M Tech Programmes are offered in various Departments / Disciplines. In addition to regular candidates, admissions will also be offered for Sponsored candidates from Defence, BARC, DRDO, ISRO, NAL, NTRO, KSRTC, BMTC, BDA, PWD, CPRI, ACIWRM: Water Resource Dept (WRD) GoK, Ministry of Water Research (MOWR) and Central Water Commission (CWC) under DRIP Project.

Other Masters Programs include (i) Master of Design (M Des) programme offered by the Department of Design and Manufacturing (ii) Master of Management (M Mgt) offered by the Department of Management Studies (iii) M. Tech Programme through CFTI Mode of Entry offered to Graduates of any course with a minimum duration of Four years, from any Centrally Funded Technical Institution with a minimum CGPA of 8.0 out of 10 or its equivalent as applicable to individual departments/ disciplines (iv) Masters in Engineering (M.Engg) Programme in Semiconductor Technology (v) Joint M. Tech programme in Semiconductor Technology with Taiwanese Universities.

Course Programmes in Science [M Sc Programme] are offered in Life Sciences and Chemical Sciences

Integrated Ph.D Programmes are available in Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences.

Specializations, areas of research, Eligibility for admission to each Program, mark/grade requirements at the qualifying examination  (the minimum class prescribed in the qualifying examination is relaxed to a ‘Pass Class’ for SC/ST candidates); National entrance tests eligibility needed (such as GATE/ NET JRF/GPAT/CEED/CAT/JAM/JEST etc;), Selection procedure, Scholarships etc; are given in the Admission Notice for the Academic year 2025-26 at https://www.iisc.ac.in/admissions/

Those in the final semester/year of their qualifying examinations but expect to complete all the requirements for award of the degree (like examinations, project dissertation, viva-voce, etc.) by 31 July 2025, and can furnish the necessary certificates on or before 31 October 2025 are eligible to apply.

Applications can be submitted at https://www.iisc.ac.in/admissions/ by 11.59 pm on 23.03.2025 for Research, PG Course Programmes and Integrated PhD. Application fee is Rs. 800/- (Rs. 400/- for SC / ST / PwD) to be paid online through net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI. 

External Registration Programme (ERP) for Ph.D/M.Tech (Research)]: ERP is for (i) Professionals from R&D Organizations / Industries and (ii) Faculty members from Engineering, Agricultural, Pharmaceutical, Veterinary, Medical Colleges/ Universities, recognized by appropriate government agencies. 

Eligibility ERP: The educational qualifications remain the same as for the regular candidates. Qualifying in one of the national entrance tests like CSIR-UGC NET for JRF, UGC-NET for JRF, DBT JRF, ICMR JRF, GATE, and NBHM is desirable but not mandatory. Further, the candidate should have completed two years of full-time employment in the current organization after completion of degree. The candidates must be officially sponsored by their employing organizations and compulsorily fill in an online application form and submit the printed version, in duplicate, on or before 07th April 2025. Detailed eligibility criteria are given at IISc website. The selection is based on the performance in the interview.

Sponsored & ERP applicants can submit applications online by 11.59 pm on 31.03.2025. Application fee is Rs. 2000/- ERP candidates (all categories). For M.Tech under sponsored category. it is Rs. 800/-. Those applying for M.Tech under the sponsored category must compulsorily fill an online application form and submit the printed version, in duplicate, by 07th April 2025.

Those who have applied before the declaration of results must log in and update score/ rank details within 03 days after the result announcement.
