National Testing Agency (NTA) has invited Online Applications for Graduate Aptitude Test- Biotechnology (GAT-B) – 2025, a National Level Entrance Examination for admission to Department of Biotechnology (DBT) supported Post Graduate Programme in Biotechnology and allied areas, in Participating Institutions.

DBT supported Post Graduate programmes include: M.Sc. Biotechnology and allied areas; M.Tech. Biotechnology and allied areas; M.Sc. Agricultural Biotechnology and M.V.Sc. Animal Biotechnology. Details of participating institutions/ universities for GAT-B 2025 examination is given at Appendix-II of the Information Bulletin of GAT-B 2025 at https://exams.nta.ac.in/DBT/. Applicants may regularly check the website of RCB, https://rcb.res.in/ and https://rcb.res.in/DBTPG/ for updated list of participating institutions/universities in GAT-B2025. 

After the declaration of GAT-B 2025 results, an all India category wise merit list will be prepared as per the Reservation Policy of Government of India. Call for admissions, for GAT-B 2025 qualified candidates, will be advertised separately by participating institutions/universities as per institutional admission and selection norms. 

GAT-B 2025 Score is valid for admission to the notified courses during the academic year 2025-26 only.

Qualified candidates of GAT-B 2025, admitted to DBT supported Post Graduate programmes in Biotechnology and allied areas, at Participating Institutions/Universities in India will be paid stipend as follows (i) M.Sc. Biotechnology & Allied Areas-Rs.5000/-per month (ii) M.Sc. Agricultural Biotechnology-Rs.7500/-per month (iii) M.Tech./M.V.Sc. programmes- Rs.12000/-per month. Stipend will be disbursed through the participating institutions after due verification of students pursuing prescribed DBT supported Post Graduate programmes in Biotechnology and allied areas. Continuation of stipend for the second year of the programme is subject to satisfactory progress of the student, to be certified by participating institutions/universities.

Eligibility:  Only bonafide Indian nationals meeting the minimum eligibility criteria of Participating Institutions/Universities (Appendix-II) are eligible to apply for GAT-B 2025 entrance examination. Applicants may further verify the eligibility criteria on the website of the Participating Institutions/Universities. Those who have either appeared or are due to appear in the final examination of their qualifying degree are eligible to apply for GAT-B 2025, under the result awaited (RA) category. Such candidates will have to submit the Undertaking/Attestation Form duly certified/stamped by the Head of the Institute (with address and name) from where the candidate is appearing for the qualifying degree. Attestation/Undertaking Form for appearing/result awaited candidates is given at Appendix-III of the Information Bulletin. 

Mode/Pattern of Examination: The Examinations will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.  The question paper will comprise of Multiple Choice Questions in 2 sections: Section A will have 60 Multiple choice questions of 1 marks each of the level of 10+2, from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology all of which are to be answered (total 60 marks). Section B will have 100 Multiple choice questions of 3 marks each of Graduate /Bachelor’s level in the subjects, Basic Biology, Life Sciences, Biotechnology and allied areas, of which 60 are to be answered (180 marks). For each wrong response, 1/2 or 0.5 mark will be deducted in part A and 1 mark will be deducted in Part B from the total marks. Syllabus for GAT-B 2025 is given at https://rcb.res.in/DBTPG/  

The examinations will be conducted from 10 am to 1 pm on 20.04.2025 (Sunday) in a single shift. List of exam cities and centres for GAT-B 2025 is given in Appendix IV of the Information Bulletin. It is mandatory for candidates to select four cities of their choice while filling Online Application Form. 

Application: Application can be submitted online at https://exams.nta.ac.in/DBT/ up to 5 pm on 03 March 2025. Examination fee is Rs. 1300/- (Rs. 650/- for SC/ST/PwD) which can be paid through Credit Card/ Debit Card/Net Banking up to 11.50 pm on 03 March 2025. Correction in the Particulars of Application Form can be made online from 05 March 2025 to 06 March 2025. 

Display of Recorded Responses: NTA will display the Recorded Responses and Question Paper attempted by the candidates on the NTA website https://exams.nta.ac.in/DBT/ prior to declaration of result. There responses are likely to be displayed for two to three days. 

Display of Provisional Answer Key for Challenges: NTA will display Provisional Answer Key of the questions on the NTA website https://exams.nta.ac.in/DBT/, to provide an opportunity to the candidates to challenge the Provisional Answer Key. The Answer Keys are likely to be displayed for two to three days. Candidates will be given an opportunity to make a challenge online against the Provisional Answer Key, on payment of Rs.200/- per challenged question, as a non-refundable processing fee. 

Declaration of Results: The result for GAT-B 2025 will be processed based on Final Answer Keys. No Score Card will be dispatched to the candidates and the candidates are advised to download their Score Cards for GAT-B 2025 from https://exams.nta.ac.in/DBT/ only.
