Applications have been invited the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, for admission to the 2 year Programme in Fashion Designing and Garment Technology (FDGT), for 2020-21 being conducted at the 42 Government Institute of Fashion Designing (GIFD) across Kerala.

The course focuses on conventional garment manufacturing and Computer Aided Fashion Designing. The course involves the scientific study of garment designing, manufacturing, fashion designing, marketing etc; focussing on latest trends and innovations. The curriculum also includes market analysis, soft skill training, Communicative English, Internship for 6 weeks etc.  

There will be public examination at the end of the first year and the second year. Those successfully completing the course will be given the Certificate in Fashion Designing & Garment Technology under Kerala Government Technical Examination (KGTE) scheme.

Institutes: GIFD are located at Nedumangad, Parassala, Kanjiramkulam, Kandla, Balaramapuram, Venjarammoodu, Attingal (Trivandrum District); Thevally, Ezhukone (Kollam District), Chengannur, Harippad (Alappuzha District), Pambady, Pala (Kottayam), Vellaramkunnu, Vandipperiyar, Devikulam, Rajakkad, Thodupuzha (Idukki District), Thammanam, Kalamassery, Njarakkal (Ernakulam), Pariyaram, Kunnamkulam, Irinjalakkuda, Thrissur, Wadakkanchery (Thrissur), Palakkad, Agaly, Chathannur, Mannarkad (Palakkad), Kuttippuram, Mankada, Kondotty, Vengara (Malappuram), Kozhikode, Vadakara (Kozhikode), Kannur, Neruvampram (Kannur), Wythiri, Mananthawady, Sultan Battery (Wayanad), Mogral Puthur (Kasaragod).

There are 24 seats at each Institute. 48 students will be admitted at Thammanam, Njarackal in Ernakulam district, Thrissur, irinjalakkuda, Wadakkancherry in Thrissur in alternate years. At Nedumangad, there will be 2 batches (48 seats). Details of the reservations are available in the Prospectus.

Eligibility: Applicant should be an Indian Citizen. Applicant should have passed the SSLC/Equivalent with eligibility for higher studies. There is no upper age limit for admissions.

The filled applications along with the documents specified (self-attested), should be submitted to the institution where admission is sought paying a Registration fee of Rs.25/-, latest by 4 pm on 27 October 2020.

Admissions will be as per the list prepared by considering the Grades received in the SSLC/equivalent examination.
