
The Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) is now accepting applications for its prestigious Visiting Fellowship Programme, offering researchers the opportunity to engage in collaborative, data-driven, and interdisciplinary research during the 2025/26 academic year.
Programme Highlights: Visiting Fellows will
- Interact with other fellows, researchers, and partners from business, third sectors, and students.
- Participate in seminars, events, and training courses.
- Access resources for advancing their research and professional development.
Research Areas: Applicants should align their research with one of EFI’s six key areas:
- Creative Industries & Digital Humanities
- Ethics of Data and Artificial Intelligence
- Financial Services & Fintech
- Future Infrastructure
- Public Sector: Prevention, Data Civics, Participatory Democracy, Governance
- Tourism & Festivals
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must hold an open-ended academic position outside the University of Edinburgh.
- Relevant professional qualifications or equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Researchers from Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) and underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply.
Fellowship Terms:
- Duration: 3–6 months, within an academic semester.
- Financial Support: Up to £1,500/month for relocation, plus reimbursement for travel and visa costs.
- Responsibilities: Fellows will contribute through guest lectures, seminars, grant proposals, or teaching.
Application Process:
- Applicants must secure an academic sponsor from the University of Edinburgh.
- Applications will be evaluated on research leadership, existing links with Edinburgh’s academic ecosystem, societal impact potential, and plans to engage with EFI’s community.
Important Dates:
- Application Deadline: Midnight (GMT), 23 January 2025
- Notification of Results: End of February 2025
