If you’ve ever lost your mobile phone or worried about fraudulent calls and messages, India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has a powerful tool for you: the Sanchar Saathi mobile app. Launched in January 2025, this app has already been downloaded over 50 lakh times within just six months, reflecting its growing importance in safeguarding mobile users across the country.

Losing a phone can be a nightmare, but the Sanchar Saathi app offers practical solutions that help users quickly report lost or stolen devices. More than 5.35 lakh lost or stolen handsets have been recovered. The app also empowers users to block their devices remotely, reducing the chances of misuse.

Moreover, the platform allows citizens to report unauthorised mobile connections and so far, over 1 crore such connections have been disconnected based on user reports.

One standout feature is Chakshu, which helps users detect and deactivate suspicious numbers, block stolen handsets. The Chakshu feature alone has led to the deactivation of more than 29 lakh suspicious numbers, adding another layer of security for users.

The app’s accessibility is another highlight. Recognising India’s vast linguistic diversity, Sanchar Saathi supports English, Hindi, and 21 regional languages, making it user-friendly for people across the country.

Easy reporting and real-time protection

Gone are the days of complicated complaint procedures. The app lets users report fraudulent calls and messages directly from their call and SMS logs with just a few taps.

Further enhancing protection, DoT has introduced the Financial Fraud Risk Indicator (FRI) tool, which flags mobile numbers linked to financial fraud. This tool helps banks and payment service providers proactively freeze accounts or restrict transactions, protecting millions from potential scams.

Trusted by millions, backed by the government

With over 16.7 crore visits to the Sanchar Saathi portal, this citizen-centric platform has earned widespread trust. It bridges the gap between users and telecom security services, offering direct access through its app on both Android and iOS devices.

If you’ve lost your phone or want to protect yourself from mobile fraud, the Sanchar Saathi app is now a must-have on your device.
