It has been a year since Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander safely landed on the lunar surface on August 23, 2023, making India the fourth country after the United States, Soviet Union and China to achieve a soft landing on the Moon's South Pole.
To honor this momentous achievement, the country has decided to observe August 23 every year as National Space Day from Friday, the first anniversary of the victory.
Chandrayaan-3 is a symbol of ISRO's decades of hard work, determination and innovation.
From the father of the Indian space programme, Dr Vikram Sarabhai to the individuals who made Chandrayaan-3 a reality, the day also honours all those who have contributed to India's space efforts.
